In a recent interview, we were able to get the CEO of Open AI, Sam Altman, thoughts on the current and future of artificial intelligence.
Open AI is a major thing. They are at the vanguard of constructing the world that cyberpunk and science fiction have imagined for our future.
They develop the most complex algorithms using the most powerful computational and data set resources.
What comes to mind when you hear the word GPT-4? Open AI is the organization that developed it, and it serves as the foundation for the majority of copyrighting software. And Open AI doesn’t simply produce GPT-4. They are the masterminds of the AI image generator known as DallE-2, as well as Whisper (a speech recognition software released last week).

To add insult to injury, the rate of exponential development in the algorithm’s performance is incredible. In November of 2019, GPT-2 was made available to the public. GPT-3 is its successor. Just a short time after that, in May of 2020, GPT-3 was made available.
With the use of extensive computers and data sets, they were able to make the algorithm more efficient in a period of time that was less than a year. The New York Times has acknowledged that GPT-3 is capable of producing unique text at a level of fluency comparable to that of a human writer.
The story is the same with regard to the image generator Dall-E. In January of 2021, Dall-E was made available to the public, and in April 2022, Dall-E 2 was announced. Recently, Dall-E 2 has triumphed as a champion of an annual art competition held in Colorado.
Open AI has shocked us by designing algorithms that challenge tasks that we once believed were reserved for people, such as creative work.
So, what does Sam Altman think about the way things are right now?
The Present Capabilities of AI and Its Limits
Over the course of the conversation, Sam said that we had just scratched the surface of the iceberg’s potential implications.
Hence, I believe that up until this point, we have been in the domain where it is possible to run a successful education service, copywriting company, or anything else of your choosing. On the other hand, I don’t believe that we have yet seen individuals go for the trillion dollar take on Google.
He makes a valid argument in pointing out that artificial intelligence is not yet able to provide humans with net new knowledge. It has been able to train itself and synthesis vast quantities of information, yet all it does is create what humans have already been doing.
It will not be effective in treating cancer. It will not contribute in any way to the whole body of human scientific knowledge.”
The word “yet” is the most important here.
And this is the prediction that I believe will turn out to be incorrect, which I believe will surprise the present authorities in the area the most.
Putting more weight on the notion that significant advances are yet to come.
But where is it?

Sam is of the opinion that “bio” or “genomic” will be the subject of the next big technological advance.
There has been some promising work done in genomics, however, the work done on a benchtop hasn’t really had an influence on the field. I believe things will be different in the future. And I believe this is one of these unusual places where there will be new firms formed that will be worth between one hundred and one thousand billion dollars, and these are uncommon regions.
Someone who was just starting out in this industry was given the piece of advice to steer clear of any fields in which human testing was required since it may be a time-consuming process. A region that is at the junction of bio and materials or simulations will provide an excellent starting point.
And it seems that the area of AI is on the cusp of a major breakthrough. OpenAI’s chief rival, DeepMind, has been hard at work on AlphaFold, a computer program that can forecast the three-dimensional structures of proteins.
It has the ability to completely reorient our understanding of proteins and the role they play in the body. By presenting a more precise representation of the structure of a protein, AlphaFold has the potential to contribute to the discovery of new insights into how proteins operate and how illnesses occur.
The discovery of novel medicines for diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s might result from this. In addition, AlphaFold might assist speed up the process of developing new pharmaceuticals, since it is crucial to have a solid understanding of how a protein will interact with the drugs that are being developed.
